Altaf is a Canadian trained Physical Therapist, who holds a master’s degree In Physical Therapy from McGill University and an undergraduate degree in Biological Science, Kinesiology and Psychology from the University Of Alberta. He also holds an IOC diploma in Sport Physical Therapies awarded by the International Olympic Committee.

Altaf is one of the founders of Performance medicine with multidisciplinary practices in gigiri and karen. He is also a member of the NOC-K medical Commission and one of the lead physical therapists in-country for the Adidas Ikaika Sports elite running team based in iten and ngong. He also guest lectures at JKUAT’s professional physical therapy degree program and serves on the board of the Kenya Sports Medicine Society.

Altaf is a compassionate and diligent professional with over 10 years of experience in assessing the physical needs of patients and developing and administering physical therapy treatments to relieve pain, improve mobility, enhance performance, return to sport and work with the ultimate goal of enhancing the patients physical and mental  wellbeing / quality of life.

Altaf specializes in Musculoskeletal Sports physiotherapy, Orthopedic rehabilitation (Pre and Post Surgery), Cardiac rehabilitation (Cardiac disease, Respiratory disease and ICU management) and Neuro rehabilitation for a variety of populations from - pediatric patients spanning through to geriatric patients. He utilizes the a multitude of techniques, such as: Manual Therapy, Myofascial release, Dry needling and cupping, Electro Modalities, Spinal and Peripheral manipulations, Exercise therapy, Ergonomic, Biomechanical and sports specific technique correction amongst others.

Altaf comes with a diverse background of having worked with Elite level rugby players in Canada at the varsity level and with Paralympic wheel chair athletes at the national level and has worked with various Kenya National Teams such as, the Kenya 7s, Kenya Athletic Sprinters, Kenya Triathlon, Kenya Squash, Kenya Badminton, Kenya Beach Volley, Kenya Paralympic Shooting and the Kenya MTB team. He also has a passion for working with neurological patients, helping patients who have suffered either a Stroke or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s by focusing his treatments with in the interdisciplinary team to improving and enhancing their mobility and functional abilities and in turn their quality of life.

Altaf is an exercise enthusiast and participates in regular weight-training, and MTB cycling and various other activities that involve being outdoors.

  • Physical Therapist team Kenya,  at the Commonwealth Games 2022, Birmingham

  • Headed team Kenya, Head Physio, at the Para Shooting World Cup 2021 in Peru.

  • Part of the IAAF Tokyo 2020, Team Kenya Sport Medicine Panel.

  • IAAF U18 World Championships 2017 Nairobi – LOC Warmup Track, Head Physio.

  • Head of Physio and Emergency Triage Medic at the Ismaili Jubilee Games Dubai in 2016.
